mini cooper electric PS pump?

Hi Gang!
Poking around the internet, I found this interesting thread. Guy used a Mini Cooper electric PS pump. I thought that the "on demand" nature of pump was intriguing in that at higher speeds it doesn't offer assist so according to the poster, it offers better steering feel. I like that! Does anyone know anything about this?

This is the electric motor hydraulic pump right? I as well looked into this awhile ago, seemed viable to me.  See those things in the pull a parts around here all the time...

Hybrid system is interesting; but it was made for golf cart size wheels and probably made by bmw.  Downgrade? :-X

Lol yeah hear you there.  Frees up a little parasytic loss and if it quits doesn't throw your belt...  I decided to carry a spare water pump belt and run the suzuki ps pump on my tracker.  Might be handy for the right build...
