Exo Cages

I'm considering adding an exo cage of sorts to the tin top zuk, I'm looking for that little bit of protection / reassurance from a side rollover should i get into such a situation. Having said that, I do not want a full on roll cage, just some bare minimum tubing that will keep the zuk body intact and hopefully undamaged, and will also allow me to scrape by rocks and trees without caving in the side and quarter panels. Too many goodies on a zuk here brings unwanted heat to a DD.

Any body have pics of their cages?
How much tubing would be needed for building something like i have described? 1.75" DOM is spendy in these parts.......

I'd look at some of the arb front bumper extensions that form into rock sliders. Also 1.5 is decent enough for sami as long as it isn't a serious rollover.

Also koh spec 4600 class with rolbar tie ins.

I'm going to build a front bumper similar to these Crawler bumpers, because I have the tube already.

The rear will also get a square tube style bumper.
I like the way that tubing protects the sides of the truck in the pic you posted. Effective and still low profile.
Mine will have to be made with 1.75". I have the JD 32 die already and a new 1.5" die is over $500.........ouch!

It's nice to be able to incorporate different size tubing and angles into a roll bar. It really helps with weight and form.  My front bumper was 2x4 3/16 cut on the ends and a winch plate weded on. The rear was made out of on 20' x 4" x 3/16.  Also Ted hase been wheeling Toyota's since they came out with the 4 runners.

A good place to start your Exo would be a sturdy set of rock sliders. Once you have those you can build from there. I made my own useing some 1.75 dom.
