Aluminum bed cover

This is the first thing that I ever made out of aluminum.  It is a great way to store tools, tow ropes, etc, and lock them up.
I also made a 1/2 cab that seals up very well, and works great during the winter

The half cab velcros to the side, snaps to the top of the bed cover, and the top wraps around the targa bar under the bikini top.  This set up is easy to take on and off, and it does not mater how cold it is when I put it on.  I used it all last winter and the half cab kept me warmer than my old full top.

Awesome.......and the best part of it NO welding ;D

Great idea...I'll add it to my list, I'd go one step further and maybe bedline the top. (espcially with me being up here in the Canadian winter's)

what gauge aluminum did you use, and what size sheet?

The thickness is about 3/32" and I think the size of the sheet was about 5' X 8'.  Here in Wichita, Kansas there is a store that has metal material that may have a damaged section on it, so they sell it at a lower price.  I went out there and measured the different sizes of sheets that they had until I found one that worked.  I was able to cut every thing out of one sheet.  I also bought some scrap aluminum angle and cut out what I needed.  This store charges for the metal by the pound.

I hope this helps.

Thanks

Some guys at work gave me a hard time because they thought that it looked like the Hummer with the small truck bed.

Yeah, on my last trip to K-Rocks there was a H3 and a 2001 H1.  Neither one would follow me through the frame twister, but they were impressed with my Zook.  You can see me driving through the frame twister on this video.

My local internet provider, COX, dropped the ball again.  I am working on getting the pics back up.  The server that my pics are on is down.  [breakputer]
