Picked up a 1979 LJ 81 last summer found 20180708_161241.webp20181114_051933.webp20180708_161248.webp20180708_161307.webp it while searching for parts for my Sj. I've made the decision to to a rebuild on it ,it is running condition buts that's all I know.it needs fenders ,floor boards, frame repair ect .I havnt worked on one of these before and I'm hearing parts are difficult to come by .I'm also thinking of dropping in the 1.3 liter out of my Sj413 if I can fit it in ,anyone have any suggestions to where body parts can be found .any other advice?

Yep, being even more rare than a good oem Samurai, finding body panel will be a challenge.

How perfect do you want it to be? Can you do your own rust repair?
Otherwise.......India? Japan?

Should be able to fashion floor boards and do a sufficient frame repair,I am a Boilermaker by trade so steel work is nothing new,
parts i am told are extremely rare so the fenders could be a challenge if looking for factory replacements, the rest of the truck is not bad on first glance ,box is good and all the sides fold down nicely, cab is good ,hood is awesome maybe two medium  dents no rust though.
I am thinking of using sj410 or 413  axles because they are narrower and hopefully fit the LJ platform ,these would be fitted with newer samurai brakes.

You can get reproduction LJ80 body parts from TROA.  They sell on ebay, but if you go direct they'll be a bit cheaper.  http://citroa.com/suzuki-lj80/

Megazip has lots of everything except body parts:  https://www.megazip.net/zapchasti-dlya-avtomobilej/suzuki/lj80-8580/lj81k-18246/lj81k-325509
