Installing Transmission

Anyone know the secret to getting the transmission slid back up to the engine that last little bit to get the nuts and bolts started? I used 4" C clamps by the lower bolts last time but that doesn't seem to want to work as well this time. Thanks.

Did you change the clutch, could the clutch plate be misaligned?
Agree. It should slid right in. No C clamps!   Don't want to break anything. Just make sure it is level to the engine. Jim

What they said ^^. Also sometimes the clutch and input shaft splines butt against one another. Leave the trans in gear and use the tail shaft to spin it a bit.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll be back on it tomorrow when it warms up a little more. I'm wondering if the back of the motor may have dropped a little when I took the transmission out, might try jacking that up just a hair to see if that helps. I'll let you know how it goes.
