Inquiry about 38 dgas weber carb

Good day,

Please see attached photo about my inquiry.
Could you please tell me the purpose of the screw or jet in the middle of this photo of my 38 dgas weber.
It is a standard carb on a 3L Ford Cortina Essex engine in South Africa (1980 model)
I can not find any info on the internet about it. Can you also tell me how to adjust this jet.
I would appreciate any info that you have.
