Samurai Tech / Re: Tach wiring for 2.0
Hey Bud.  No idea if it makes any difference or not, but my resistor is a 5% 1/4w 24k. I see you said yours is 2%.
I am not sure, but let me get one of those and see what happens [thumbsup]

I appreciate it buddy, but I am going to go back to my original plan and get the aftermarket Speedo & Tach from GlowShift and then get the MSD Tach Driver.

I really do appreciate your help though.

ugggggg......

I think I am going to give up on the resistor thing. Just replaced the current one with a new resistor to see if it was the resistor...... no dice.

I am not sure if the wiring on the back of the Tach is not jiving with the 2.0 or what. The current wiring on the back of the Tach worked with the 8-valve. I might have damaged the logic board.................

I am now praying that the MSD Tach thing will work with the new resistor.

Is this to correct resistor?

Samurai Tech / Re: Tach wiring for 2.0
Each brown wire comin from the coil packs on my motor has a thin sliver or grey ring on them. So I landed the (- coil) from the image above to that wire and the tach still isn't working.

I must have screwed up the logic board when I soldered the new resistor in ..... I am going to try anot her resistor to make sure it isn't the resistor.

excellent write-up buddy  [thumbsup]

General Chit Chat / Re: New Rear Bumper
Hey, I know someone else who done that a few months ago. Lol.  I guess it was a no go on trimming the fins on the lights?  It looks good great job
Yeah ............ I just cut out the back large enough for the fins to stick out. I will be cutting out some areas on the bottom of the bumper to allow the bumper to drain when water gets in there  [thumbsup]

They are very bright ........ I literally cannot look straight into them.

General Chit Chat / Re: New Rear Bumper
Looks great.  Please Give us a review of the lights once they are installed!
I don't know which lights you wanted, but here are the LED pod reverse lights + the parking lights

General Chit Chat / Re: New Rear Bumper
got them wired up ........Yes Sir ............... the reverse lights are pretty bright. Can't wait till tonight to see how bright they actually are.

Samurai Tech / Re: Tach wiring for 2.0
crap .............. my last post sounded like I had it fixed but I meant to "only" say ..................

that I was told that the brown wire was the (- coil) ............. is that correct?

lxer96 .............. would you mind still checking your wire to see if it is solid brown?

Thanks

I will buddy

Thanks Cameron......

Really didn't want to build a new bumper, but you know how it goes

General Chit Chat / New Rear Bumper
Ordered some LED pods a while back and decided to install them this weekend.

No Go ...... with my current set-up they would not fit. So I decided it was time for a new bumper.

I ordered some motorcycle tail lights the will cover all three functions ...... parking / turn / break

they are 2" in diameter and I was told the they are so bright that you cannot look at them straight on.

heres some pics

Samurai Tech / Re: Tach wiring for 2.0
Thanks fellas ........... I am told that the 2.0 brown wire is (- coil) and so I ran from the back of the tach that I labled (- coil) to the brown wire.

Samurai Tech / Re: Tach wiring for 2.0
Ok something is wrong .....

based on the image above..... I landed the (- coil) to the brown wire on the 2.0 harness.

Tach no worky

This 2.0 brown wire isn't completely solid ..... it has those grey narrow rings every so often on it (not a stripe). Is this considered a "Solid Brown Wire" or should I keep looking ?

I am also afraid that I overheated the logic board when I swapped out resistors, but I thought I was careful not to heat it up.

I did the resistor swap according to the thread over on pirate4x4

pirate4x4 link

from what I have read .......... I need to land (a wire) to the brown wire on the 2.0. My problem is that I have (3) wires hooked up to the (3) posts on the back of the Tach....... (see pic) ...........

based on the 3 wires in the pic ........ which wire would I land to the brown wire on the 2.0 harness?

How-To / Re: Samurai 2.0 swap
Right. All I did was swap the resistor and connect the brown wire. Easy.
