i have a home made twin stick in my samurai t-case with 6 to 1 gears,now i have ran it like this for a year and a half with no problems, now all of a sudden when im in 4 low it pops into 2 low, i removed the twin stick and tried a stock stick with no luck then i put it in 4 low and removed the stick,still it seems when there is a load on the front it pops it into 2 wheel drive any one have any ideas?

does the shifter move into the 2wd position? if it does, can you keep it in 4wd by holding it there?

at first the shifter was moveing out but then i tried holding it and now it works some times and sometimes it dont, it could be moveing a little bit but it wont stay in 4 low even when held

whats a shift collar? is it on the rod that the shifter moves?

im not sure i havent had it apart yet do you think that could be it? would it force it out of 4 low and work sometimes then not other?

If there is not much stress on it it would be fine but would make noise when you really need it. I think my dad's truck has a broken one after the mud hole trip this week. :)

there is an extra amount of play with the front output shaft would i have to rebuild the whole case or could i get a new output shaft and pilot bearing only,the bearings are only 1.5 yrs old

you don't have to take the case apart to fix the front output. You should be able to do it in the truck.

Here is a pic of the front shaft from www.lowrangeoffroad.com. Get the one for the newer Sammy, it's a little more beefy.

it's not really beefier, it just has a larger area for the engagement ring to grab.
it's also a "trail gear" part, and Low-Range re-sells it. (probably a suzuki part to begin with)

Yeah it's an OEM part. If it's really popping out of 4wd I would check the mounts also
