Wheelin someone else's rig, again

« on: Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 12:03:36 AM »

In reading posts and pictures, I can kind of figure it out, but want to know for sure.  I see that this year, its Aug 1, 2, and 3, at Raush Creek park in Pa.

Is it set up like the Zuwharrie event? (Come in, camp all weekend, wheel all weekend, and shoot the bull) or is there more to it than that?

What are the conditions like in RC?  Showers, bathroom facilities, campsites, etc.

How big is the group there?

The pictures show some dang nice wheelin, is it all rocks, or is there mud and general trails?

What all else do I need to know if I come to the event?

Thanks guys!

Yes its is setup similar to the Zu. The only other things we do is we have a group dinner saturday night and usually a raffle. but other then that its go out and go wheelin...

there are a couple of options for accomodations... 1st is you can stay at rausch creek. however it is primitive camping only. no water or electric unless you bring it in yourself and no showers only port a johns... however the camping is free with park admission if you let them know ahead a time. there are a number of different motels around the area and two campgrounds close by and one camp ground a little further out.

Last year we stayed at Echo Valley camp ground, however we have not made the decision to do that again this yet as of yet. if you have any more questions you are more then welcome to PM me directly and I can provide you my phone number.

as of right now it means nothing. the dates for GZ havent changed....it just means you would have the option of checking out we-rock while your there...i believe the admission for werock is like $10 for the day (aside of the park fee) and you get to see some of the national competitors along with some of the locals

last year at werock if you were there to wheel for the day you could pay $5 extra over the wheelin fee if you wanted to go check out the comps, or it was $10 a day just to watch the comp

I don't think that having GZ the same weekend as WeRock would be a good idea.

I think this is one of these things that is a good thing and a bad thing all at the same time.  I don't think the the trails will be too bad.

there is more then one trail ;)  sorry man had to was just too easy....

the only thing that would be offlimits during werock are the comp courses. the rest of the park is open to wheel. unfortunatly the group for gonzookin has historically been only 20-25 rigs so we do not have the presence that the melt or the zu has with the local wheeling spot. we are at the mercy of the park.
