well most know what i am starting with. it an 88 zuk with a 95 tracker drivetrain in it. 16v with tracker 5spd and trak case and a zuk 6.5 to 1 case. its basic spoa and stock gears. i started my yj swap today with M/L on all 4 corners. well i got the front springs on and mounted up. just got to take the front bumper off now so the M/L can rest all the way up like the are supposed to. well enough jabbering here are some pic of what i started with and the yj swap.

dane
the M/L still need a plate welded inbetween the bottom shackles to keep it from flipping in on itself but i will get to that hopefully tomorrow
this is what it looked like with 33s before i started the yj swap

Don't forget to turn the spring center bolts upside down, so the pin is on the bottom and the nut is on the top. ;)

BTW, what's the melty blob thing on the pass. side frame rail? ???

come on surly look close man. thats my brake caliper. the truck already has extended brake lines and all on it. an since i am working alone with no help to bleed the brakes i just took the calipers off both sides and hung them up on the shock hoops. once u look at the pic again u will be like duh. i had to look at it when u said something just to see what u were talking bout . Q whats the purpose of swapping the bolt upside down. just curious. i didnt do this on the last one so i didnt know about this.

thanx

only reason I can think of is if the bolt itself is too long and could hit the tube before the spring seats on the pad.

You flip the bolt so it seats in the spring pad properly, the head is sized for the locator hole on the pad.

What are you going to have the missing link bump into to keep it from rotating too far up?

im not finished with the M/L yet. i was just trying to mock everything up. i gonna finish the M/L before i set it down. but i gonna weld a piece of flat bar in between the 2 pieces.

thats not the part I am talking about.

The first link needs a pad to rest on while its 'closed'.
I suggest using a steel pad and a piece of rubber to help with vibration and noise.

the piece your talking about is a bar to keep the links from over-extending and reversing when they close (and destroying the spring)

Oops, sorry. :-[ My brake calipers don't look like that... they don't have any rust on them. :-X
