These carbs were Chinese knock-offs of both Nikki (Nippon Stromberg) and Mikuni carburetors.

The 'HMC' indicates that it was authorized, at least a some point, as a Hyundai unit, although it doesn't look like the Hyundai Pony carburetors I've serviced over the years. Before Hyundai became a 'respectable' car company, they built a LOT of low-buck crap and shipped it all over the world. I've seen some really bad Korean-built alternators and such.

The bulk of these Chang Won units I've seen come from South America, where I suspect they're used as inexpensive replacements for original. They are typical Chinese build quality, which is to say, with all honesty, not good. Not good at all.

I can't recommend expending the effort to try and find more, or even to find parts. It's likely the factory is now producing some other Wal-Mart-quality items. You know those Chinese, always looking to innovate, and known to be on the cutting edge of 1970's carburetor technology.

Now, if you just gotta have the latest in Chinese fuel technology, look no further than the Empi carburetors that are such blatant knock-offs of some truly old-school Weber stuff. That's the stuff to have.

I hope you appreciate the sarcasm. It worked for me.

i just about blew my drink all over when i read about the changwon carburetor.  the name itself gives me the impression of less than desireable quality.
