You should eliminate any rattles in the rear with the exhaust mounted rigid, thats why I did it on the Rice Patrol also ;)

That's what I'm hoping.... The exhaust on my sammy was enough to drive me crazy... lol

Thanks, I'm ready to do some work on the topside... all of that laying on the floor and welding overhead is getting old....  ;D

Nothing big, but I drilled and bolted the tranny crossmember today, aslo started on the new fuel lines and re-bending the brake lines down the passenger's side framerail...
Also, I tried out my winch today (just now got the controller for it) IT WORKS GREAT!  ;D

More progress (with pics) tomorrow.... JB

Today, I took on the arduous task of cutting off all the rear coil buckets, shock mounts and panhard mount....
I will be running my exhaust down the outside of the framerail (from the front of the rear  wheelwell back) due to clearance issues with the fuel tank and shackles... But, this will be a good thing as the exhaust will be up high and out of harms way...  ;D

I also cut my rear corners to get an idea how it will look... I will be closing the cut area in with sheetmetal...
That's all for now...

Well, IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!  ;D

I spent the morning hooking up the remaining wires, installing new fuel lines and changing the oil.
The first attempt was a "no-go" Would not fire..... So, I hooked up the scanner and found a trouble code for the cam position sensor.  :(

If you remember, I broke the cam position sensor, one of the 10 times I had the engine out.... Well, since Advance Auto Parts doesn't carry the $82 one anymore.... and the cheapest one I can find is nearly $200.... I tried to fix it with JB weld. Didn't work.... Turns out that the wires inside were broken....

So, I had a thought... I melted, cut and scraped all of the plastic away from the 3 tiny wires inside the top of the sensor, and the broken piece..... And CAREFULLY soldered wires between the sensor and the broken piece. The tiny wires inside were about 1/32 apart from eachoter and sealed in the plastic of the sensor...
Luckily, Logan (newp09) was there and helped me hold the wires in place as I soldered them. I would have NEVER been able to do it without him... THANKS Logan!
After we soldered the wires on, we sealed them up with RTV.... We let it dry for a while and put it back in.... Thinking, "this will never work."
So, Attempt 2... It started RIGHT up and ran like a clock!!! This thing runs GREAT!

So, I am now on the hunt for a replacement cam sensor... Hopefully I will be able to find one in the junkyard... I REALLY don't want to pay $200 for one.... :(

I also found out that my A/C condenser lines WILL NOT jive with my winch/mount....
That is okay, because I was really wanting to run a power steering cooler... and with the condenser in there, I would have not been able to run one.

I bought this one @ Advance today... I think it will be big enough..... (cell phone for sizing...)  ;D

Stay tuned.... more tomorrow!  ;D

MUCH appreciated.....

It was great, Logan and I never dreamed that it would work.... but we knew we had to try!

My daughter said that when it started, we sounded like a couple "mad scientists" laughing.... IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I could hear the song "we are the champions" in my head... and everything went into slo-mo.... lol  ;D

Made a little progress today.....

My winch mount looked like it had seen purgatory one too many times, so I straightened it out with a BFH and a block of wood.  ;D
I had to enlarge the fairlead opening for my aluminum fairlead and I rounded/blended the corners so the rope wouldn't have anything to catch on.

Then, I pulled out the seats and carpet... I will be welding the front clip back in soon, so I will have someone inside... watching the firewall in case of fire.
I also cut out the t-case shifter opening.
