Now, I'll clean and paint the front springs and make a spacer plate for the driver's side perch... Then ASSEMBLY BEGINS!!!

If you don't know already, a much easier way to cut shapes is on paper (or card stock) I have been using this method A LOT an it really makes things easier. Just make a template out of cardstock and do your "whittling" on that. Then transfer it to the workpiece.....

And for notching tubing joints freehand you can use card stock or a wraping paper core tube around the steel tube, Slide it down and cut your joint into the card board and then trace / copy the joint on to your tube.  Works great for those of us still notching with a torch and angle grinder.

Looking good Bell!  Your project makes me look at those cheap~er 2wd Track Kicks in a whole new way.

Good idea Whitfield!

Thank you!
I think it is actually easier to start with a 2wd...... Much less stuff to remove.  8)

I lubed up all the new spring bushings with anti-seize (works great), put the springs back in,And..........

IT'S ROLLING AGAIN!!!! [jump]

I still have to change the u-bolts. Just so you know..... The "all-pro" U-bolt flip kit does not fit the axle tube/truss very well AT ALL on 84-85 axles.... (it really needs square u-bolts on the long side)I questioned them about this, and asked them if they had a different part number for the 84-85 axles, and they said "no, just tighten it up with an impact... it will be fine."
I don't think so.....
So, I've got another set coming from Trail-Gear... Where they have two different part numbers. One for the 79-83 and one for the 84-85.... I hope this saves somebody $50.  ;D
