Just wondering if anyone has put a Samurai front axle into a Vitara or Gen II Tracker. I understand that a Samurai axle is not as strong as a Toyota axle, but I'm not planning on going any bigger than the 33's that I already have and only plan running a locker in the back. I'm mainly looking for something that will put up with more abuse than the IFS as well as providing more travel in the front.

My concern is that the Vitara frame is too wide for the Samurai axle. Does anyone have any input?

I think you'd need to have wheel spacers AND serious B/S rims to make it wide enuff of a track, and the scrub on that set up would be horrendous.  Even putting Toys under my GV, I'm doing the 3" wide IFS outter swap to the front axle and running an IFS rear to gain width.

But...

With a set of aftermarket C/V axles, it should survive 33's.

Thanks. I'm a little suprised to find out that my little Suzuki is wider than the old Toyotas. Sounds like I should just wheel it till something breaks  a g a i n ,  then beef up the IFS as needed. I already broke the stock aluminum housing a couple years ago and put in a sidekick housing to replace it. I haven't had any cv problems as of yet.
