nope, not at all. chrome is just not my thing... i am anti chrome for my rides cause when i wheel, i tend to scratch them and then they rust... plus i dont keep my stuff as clean as you do, so i dont see the point in chrome... now i might get the rep as a mall crawler... :-X

;D

also had a monkey wrench thrown into my build... :(  my sister starts school in a little over a week, so she will be doing a lot of studying... so i wont be doing much wrenching between now and january... :(  oh well... it will get built ONE day...

also looks like i have located my gears! pm sent sean! ;D

and my caddy calipers should be here in a week or so. all i lack is to hit the junkyard and get some yota front calipers, and i should be all set for my build!!!

AND!!! i think i have found a place to wrench, so i dont have to wait till my sis gets out of school!! that will be nice!

Great looking wheels. Now that's good news on a place to wrench. This build could be on it's way.  [approve]

Gears made it today. taking the read third to the shop tomorrow to get setup. the front will get done once i get everything on the truck.

these are the gears with rebuild kits...

this is the 3rd i got with the gears. it is from a V-6 rear end.

and this is my axle. the thirds have visible differences, but i roughly measured the distances between the stud holes and they appear to be the same. can you tell by looking at the outside if the two will interchange?

i think i am gonna go outside in a minute and start disassembling/ cleaning the rear axle to get it ready.

ok, i got to work on it some more tonight. got the rear axle cleaned up and almost completely painted. gotta flip the rear caliper mounts and get them painted on the other side, and finish painting the axle shaft bearing housings, but other than that, it is ready to reassemble.

COUPLE QUESTIONS:
can i reattach the thirds with hex bolts instead of studs? i dont see why this wouldnt work.

and what kind of fitting do i need to attach the brake lines? is there a tee the axle is supposed to have? mine has NO brake lines at all. i have the stainless lines from the sky kit, but what do they attach to?

PICS:
primered housing

painted

rear Sky brackets

caddy calipers with some bling paint. (more bling than i was expecting...)

and the axle shafts. got one coat of paint on tonight before quiting. still gotta flip it and get the other side. do i need to clean the paint off the shaft before assembling the axle. i got some overspray on it. will that effect the seal?

tomorrow night i hope to reassemble the rear, and get as much done on the front as i did the rear tonight...

Studs are stronger.

Mine has a tee block for the brake lines.

The paint won't hurt anything on the axles.

 Looking Good!!

The studs are metric but I can't remember the exact size.

The tee block is also metric but the parts house may have one. Take one of your brake lines with you to make sure it fits.
