Would like to help out again this year, but hold a division of the TZC (do you still do that?) called "Pure Suzuki Challenge"; This would be a Crawl comp using standard scoring and a special limit. The truck must be pure Suzuki. Limit is 33" tires, and Zook motor, tranny, t-case and axle diff is a must. Mixing of Zook models is allowed. Hybrid axles and axles with D44 outers acceptable. A percentage of or min. sq.ft. of original body must also appear (can be applied to a tub chassis)

This competiton would show off the Zook at it's purist. And would attract the most interest from vendors at it highlights the majority products they sell (like JeepSpeed).

What do you think?

As long as it's a Zook 1.6 and not a VW 1.6.

You would be able enter a Sammy with a 2.7 V6 from a XL, running an Kick auto to a Kicker 3 and a Sammy t-case and Sidewinder axles with 12-bolt Kick diffs.  I'f it's pure Suzuki, then it's game on.

Personally, I think this would be the hottest TZC class to compete in.

I'd be game for it.  Where you want to hold this event?

You can never have too many toys.

I know some might feel jilted by the idea of a Pure Suzuki competition, but I've been bouncing this idea for years. For vendors who sponsor events and such, they need to see a direct benefit for thier support.

Look at it like this, all Zook vendors sell the majority of product for Suzuki applications. Should a competition arise that showcases thier wares, they get direct exposure. Folks watch and tune into who's running what gear. Maybe ABC's r&p gears exploded while XYZ's didn't. Maybe the guy running 123's axle/birf upgrade kit wone and didn't break, while 2 of the Zooks running 456's exploded during the second leg of the course. Maybe XXX's suspension won hands down.

This is the same reason mfg's placard competition rigs with its logo hoping that if their contestant(s) win, that will rub off as increased sales for its products. Simply stated, this would give vendors/mfg's the greatest exposure of how well their products work. I could see a Pure Suzuki comp take off and be held at several of the Zook gatherings. Anyone could buy off-the-shelf products and compete (like JeepSpeed). They could have corporate sponsorship, or run stand alone.

Personally, I'd find it kickass as it would exhibit and showcase the Zook in it's purist form. Think of it as a "super stock" series

Of course, I would hope others will still hold the TZC Modifiy and Unlimited divisions.

Well, Paragon if it still exists (didn't check the news yet to see how the trial went yesterday.)

Did anyone know that 'Gon Zookin' was named from the shortening of ParaGON and the extension of the Zookin' event in West Mass?  And to play on the saying 'Gon Fishin' since the first GZ was held in April, the start of fishing season?

A bit of GZ trivia.

Interesting, I like it!  I am looking into and working on a very similar idea (Suzuki based Rockcrawling Event).

I have:

A location,
2-day multi section / gated competition course,
Section judges,
Basic Event staff,
Set Fee, for facilities.
and a general time frame of late July Early Aug.

I am waiting on Gon Zookin to select their 07 date so I can select a mid summer weekend that will not conflict with their event.

The kicker for us will be the classes.  We have batted around ideas but I thought I'd open it up to the BBS since that is where most of our participants would come from.

Our courses can support Suzuki based rear engine moon buggys, down to the stockers SPOA on 30's.

I'm looking into more of a scored challenge or fun run and can not technically (for insurance reasons) call it a competition.

I belive their needs to be more Crawl comp oportunities for Suzukis on the east coast, So wether it is here or their I'm in for helping out how ever I can.

News says Paragon is no more....   bummer !!!

Great minds think alike?

My original idea was 4 classes.  The classes break down to % of drivetrain and body.  Drive train has 4 parts, each 25%, being the Engine, Tranny, T-case, and Axles.  SuperStocker Class would be 100% Zook drivetrain and 100% Zook body/frame with a max of 31" tire.  Pure Suzuki Class would be 100% Zook drivetrain and minimum sq.ft. of body panel from side view (could be just panels over tube) with max of 33" tires.  Modified are 50% zook drivetrain (in any combination) and anything body as long as spirt of Zook exists (i.e. just hood, or grille, or targa, etc.) with a max of 35" tire and the Unlimited where only the motor must be Zook, no hold barred for tires or frame (rock buggies).

I feel the 2 classes of SuperStocker and Pure Suzuki would garner the most interest from vendors, mfgs, participants and spectators.  Simple reason, most would be able to identify in the "challange" (you are right for insurance/legal reasons on that word) as it's what most would acutally wheel in.  It would make the best display of mfgs good to see what works in the heat of battle, and would possible garner the most support or sponsored entries.

Maybe we should work together to develop a series, where there would be regional "challenges"?  each large event could have one, we could even see a winning team arise.

However, I'm pretty saddened at the news of Paragon closing.  Yankee Bob and I are going Sunday for a last hurrah.  If I can't get this off the ground up here, maybe the Zuharrie folks would want to help hold it down there.

Well, Paragon if it still exists (didn't check the news yet to see how the trial went yesterday.)

PAP lost the court hearing and was denied appeal. Dirty politics [smiley=cussing.gif]and greedy, big buisness [smiley=cussing.gif] wins. This weekend is your last chance to ride at Paragon ($5 admission).  The operators of PAP have been deemed 'squatters' and were ordered to vacate by Monday.

Rausch Creek for Gone Zookin?  Get your reservations in early, their calender's probably going to get full quick now.

I have started a thread discussing classes in the General Chit Chat section.

Once I can nail down a date I will post in Rides and Events.

I like the ideia of a regional series, But It will be all I can do Time wise to make this happen for now.

Sad day to see PAP going away.

I never even got to take a ride.  :\\'(
