The rock garden was as challenging as any trail.  It was a great way to test before making the drive.  Very, Very, nice place, well furnished and clean, very step hike from the trailer to the cabin.

You will like the ATV Den.  That's where Mike and I stayed last year.  You have your very own rock garden and Chuck has a shop that he lets people use, if needed.

How bad is the drive from the cabin to the trails?

We got spoiled last year when we stayed at Tipton Creek cabin....it's right at the start of trail 1.

If I remember correctly, it was about 30 minutes, but we weren't setting any land speed records.

State Line: Tent and RV sites, water, fishing, toilets, handicapped accessible. Directions: Take Tennessee Scenic Route 165 east from Tellico Plains; continue on 165 east at fork outside Tellico Plains. Murphy is about an 1.5 hr from trail 1. Then its a 45 minute run down trail 1 to the Tennessee side near the entrance to lower 2. I may stay at Crawford's or possibly State Line Campground on the Tennessee side.

We got spoiled last year when we stayed at Tipton Creek cabin....it's right at the start of trail 1.

We were about 25-30 min to trail 5, long enough that driving the lonely mtn ralley road got old.

Murphy is about 30 min from the dirt road.  So about hr depending on how quick you are.  Murphy is nice but if you stay in town it will be a hike to and from.  Camping at the trail head
s the stuff.

I mentioned the trip to my wife.  (6-months in advance)  So now she is trying to schedule my daughters B-day that weekend, a full 12 days early.

Saw BRR's post and he might be correct 1.5Hrs...  I neve drove it straight.

If my daughter's birthday party is that wekend (and It looks like it is) then no, I will have to bow out.  I will know for sure in a few weeks once reservations are made.
