a toyota double cardan driveshaft runs? is it metric or standard? i need to have my shaft leghtened and my local custom driveshaft shop can only do it if its standard tubing. does anyone know where to get metric tubing if thats what it is?

i really need some help with this as it is holding up my project and theres a comp. coming up real soon!

the driveshaft shop SHOULD be able to tell you what it is. they can measure it. what kind of a shop is it?

its a custom driveshaft shop called...custom driveshaft ;) here in nh. i have not gone down to the shop yet. i just called them and they said that if it was a metric sized tube that they could not due to it due to the lack of stock of metric tubing.

Just take your shaft down there. If they are making it longer they can use any size tube that is close to the original.  ;)

he said that the "nubs" on the end of the yokes won't fit right into the I.D. of the standard tubing.

Ok, I would still take it down and let him measure the tubing diameter. Maybe he has exactly what you need. If not you can al;ways buy a piece in metric from a metal yard

If this drive shaft shop does'nt have a lathe to make this happen you need to look some where else. You could use 2 5/8 11 gauge with a little lathe work. However I would use 2 3/4  1/4 wall with a little lathe work and you would have a pretty stout shaft!
I could provide this service but I'm in middle GA.

this is what i got over at pirate..

A toyota dshaft end machined OD is 2.435"

2 7/8"x7/32" wall DOM tubing ID of 2.4375"

but it did not say if it was a single joint shaft or double
