As a kid, I spent a fair amt of time in Baja, and from my experience the Samurai is not too suitable for Baja.
It's not  that the car won't do well; Rather, it just doesn't have the capacity to carry the needed supplies.  Baja is a big place, and (at least when I went there) there were no supplies.  Instead, you had to carry everything you would need.  For us - two wks worth of food, stove, sleeping bags, pads, chairs, clothes, parts, tools, & (not inconsequential) water & gas.  Tough to get all that into a Samurai.    Your trail buddy will need to be by himself in a Suburban . . . . and then you better hope the Suburban doesn't break down.

We'll have a chase truck.  You're right:  It's a great place to get stuck.  And die.

Right now I have driven the rig around lisenting for any abnormal noises clunks bumps and squeeks. I am in the process of trying to solve a clunk from the dash. we fit the Roll cage so close to the aluminum dash the it vibrates and makes a hollow clunk when you hit bumps. SHould have that solved by Wed. We will pour some urethane bumpers that will fit the tube and wedge the dash, also may add som urethane washers to the to five some cushion. I am talking to the Laser guy about cutting out my templates for the rear storage bin Today. Weigh what will be better hand made or one that fits the back for a Heep. I have tried to call the motor builder 2 times this week with no answer. I have to get the  dimensions for the nwe radiator.. That is it for now.
