Can't keep the monkey off my back!

« on: Saturday, February 18, 2006, 09:54:21 AM »

Ok, I figured it was time to start an official ride thread since the dayes have been worked out.

Who: Anyone who wants to wheel
What: 1st Annual Tellico Zuk Jam
When: 16-18 June, 2006
Where? Tellico ORV Park, Murphy, North Carolina
Why: Do we need a reason why?

Friday the 16th I will be ready to wheel after a good breakfast ;D

Saturday the 17th we can choose a central linkup point and time and break into ability groups and hit the trails. As I have never been to Tellico before I don't know if returning to camp for lunch is feasable so we'll play it by ear. I plan on wheeling all day ;D

Sunday the 18th Breakfast and hit the tarils til noon. Somewhere along the trail I'll be stopping to have a Sunday morning service. All are invited to attend. Then back to camp and load up for the trip home. I figure I'll roll out by 3pm for the long haul home.

I rented a cabin through Tellico Cabin Rentals right along the trail system so it will nice not to have to drive far to the trailhead.

I figure most will staw at crawfords http://www.crawfordsattellico.com/ as it is close to the trails and is a 4x4 friendly camp with a shop and work bays if you should need them.

There is a ton of info available on the Tellico OHV area here: http://www.tellico4x4.com/catalog/tellico_info_main.php

As of 7 May, Here is who I saw that said they would be here:

NC Zuk                                12-18 Tipton Creek Ranch cabin
Sammi Davis                                  Tipton Creek Ranch cabin
Blue Ridge Runner                  15-18 Tipton Creek Ranch cabin
Jbird                                             Creekside Inn Cabin
Doug                                            Creekside Inn Cabin
Zukiman                                        Creekside Inn Cabin
dschwab9                                      Someone's floor ;D
hughmungas                         16-18 Crawfords Campground
Blue Zuki                                       ATV Den Cabin

A good place to meet, since you are planning on staying at Crawford's, is at the trailhead/paypoint on the NC side on Trail #1; just a "heads-up"...$10 a day :o now to ride the trails of Tellico.  There is also another good spot where Trail #1 & Trail #2 meet Trail #5 (open area); this is a good meeting place for the rigs coming from the TN side.  Another place would be on the near side of the river/water crossing on Trail #5 or the far side of the river/water crossing on Trail #5.

It would be a good idea to bring along chow because if you guys are staying at Crawford's that puts you a good 30-40 minutes from the trail head (depends on the # of rigs/familes/kids) and it takes another 10 minutes or so to drive down Trail #1 in order to reach the other trails (where all the fun begins) ;D.  Once you reach the trails, being that this event is on the weekend, more then likely there will be a lot of rigs on the trails which will play a big part in how long it will take to make it over some of the "BIG ATTRACTIONS" (Lower 2/rock garden, Hard Rock*going up/Slick Rock*coming down, School Bus, GuardRail, HeloPad) that everyone plays on while at Tellico.

Just my $.02 ;)

Hope this helps out and gives everyone/anyone that has never been to Tellico some idea of how to plan for an AWESOME trip!  I hope to see/meet you guys there.

We'll also be camping. I figure we'll be at Crawfords. I need to reserve a site. You got a site yet, Jimmy?

Ok, I "think" that I will be renting a cabin at Tellico Cabin Rentals which is right beside the entrance to Trail 1. I'm just waiting on a return call from the rental company. Big reasion is that my wife will go if I get a cabin and I want her to go soooooooooo.........

As it looks Sammi_Davis and family, Blueridge Runner and Fam and my Fam will be staying there together. Things may change but that is todays plan. If that's the case we would probably host Breakfast ob Sunday Morning. Just don't tell my wife ;D

You pass by this cabin on the way from Crawfords to Trail 1 ;)
