Sure if you are out that way and have the chance.  I'm  poor $$$ with the new Elephant in the barn, but it's always nice to know what's available + someone else might need a tow truck too.

Hmmm...   Front fenders are already trashed.   How's about a Virtual Lift on the 1TON and throwing on a set of 44's...   Yes they trashed the metal inner fender too...  So not like it would hurt anything....   Now if I can just find some one to trade a Sammy for a set of 44" boggers...

mike, i have some 16.5x14 barts black. if u need rims. 39s and tow rig arent normally used in the same thread, but sounds like it will be a beast. i think its going to end up being a around town tow rig. gas on that is going to be $$$$$$$$$. ill keep my eye out for some 39x18 micks or similar. Zack
Zack,  I'm looking at the Military's radial Michelin XL's and XZL's Both are Radials with an agressive tread pattern.  I have found info on the 36" version NEW for $165.and they make a 39" version, though I can only find it for a 20" wheel...  Hmmm :-X

No pics yet but:

Pirate board's For sale .  39" x 16 tires and wheels
8 lug alcoa look a likes 16" $350
39" michelin XL military tires fit 16" rim $650 for 5

But they are now in Cali for $1200... Bought and now up  4-$ again.

Found a pic of a 36.5" XZL...   And a brief description

"The 900x16 XZL is an awesome tire. Unmatched in quality, durability, and performance to any other radial out there IMO. the 900x16 is 36.5" tall, about the same as a 37" MTR. But it is only about 10" wide. Honestly I cant express enough how well these tires work in all terrain.

You want sidewall strength? These will at least equal the SX in that category- they have steel belted sidewalls. It has been proven that they deflect a .22 caliber bullet fired from 15ft aimed directly at the sidewall... try that with your MTR, Krawler, or Swamper.

edit: They are available for roughly $165 each from Bill's Tire in Pacheco CA. They ship nationwide.

difference in size from the 38 x 12.5 x 16.5 TSL/SX to the Michelin XL 1400 R 20

Pirate Board has a few listings i found searching.  Ebay has a set of 14.00R22's.  M715zone.com and other military vehicle resto sites list dealers who have them used (gov surplus).  In 2002 Michelin was even giving discounts to MVPA (Mil Vehic. Preservation Asso) members on these tires new selling the 11.00R16 (37's) new for $300 nation wide to members when it cost the gov. $360 a piece.

I do not know if this is any help to you.  I have 1 16.5 x 9 3/4  Weld racing super single alum. wheel.  It has never had a tire on it or bolted to a vehicle.  I bought a set of 5 for my Suburban.  I never got a spare tire for the wheel.  It just set's here.  If you like this kind of wheel.  I was considering making a hose reel out of it.  LOL  It looks like the racing wheels.   If interested let me know.  Jim

mike give me till this weekend and let me rummage through the depths of my garage and find my 2 piece weld on steering box brace that i had from when i was building my 76 stepside. its yours free if i can find it. also have a 14 bolt with factory trac-lock, made by detroit, that i can get fairly cheap. let me know. ever think of going with a chevy diesel of the same or slightly newer years and doing an aftermarket turbo/intercooler? instead of the built 350. i would think you could get the same hp and torque #'s out of one while still getting decent gas mileage going to zuwharrie or the melt. i know the 6.2s werent the greatest of motors but just an idea.

Thanks,  I'd be greatful for the steering plate.   I read that the 3/4 and 1-tons had slightly thicker frames but also that they still need the brace.  I am interested in the track lock rear but money is very tight right now.  I'm searching for a $50 Edelbrocck Performer intake, still refusing to buy one new.  I'm having to scrimp and save just to complete the engine install.  Hopefull once the parts go up for sale I'll recoupe my cost and the engine will be free.  Looks like my chances are good.   I'm still considering this engine an interium engine untill somthing better comes along.   DEAD Motor home with a big block or a used Cummings NV4500 set up for $3000.   I heard that the earlier Cummings turbo's were a 2 wire hook up and since mine was originally a diesel.   but if  could find a screaming deal on a 6.5 I'd do it and go with the turbo and intercool it.   I'm trying to swear off pulling the heads on my SBC now  ???   i'd really like to shave it .025 and port match the intake.    But I'm stuck because once I open it up I won't stop untill it is a $1500 rebuild  and that's not why I bought the parts truck.       :-X :-\:o;D
PS.  Found a set of 1/4 tread 40" boggers local called but No Answer.  May try to trade him a sammy...
