It ain't QUITE finished yet, but it's close enough that we're testing out the flex and the driveability.

1989 Sidekick Tintop
Dana 44
5:13 gears and locker
3-link with trac-bar
Fox air shocks
Sidekick rotors and calipers

Got Sammi tires on it because they're easier to work around than the 33x15.50 swampers that go on it.

I LIKE it!

Well do you Remember Krusty the Tracker? Well this is Krusty's cousin and since it is Smurf blue it has been jokingly named the "Krusty Smurf".  Here is the latest pic of Krusty's cousin:

What do you want to know?

Economical lifts over 3-6 inches are hard to find for the Track/Kick so I figured I'd setup another Tracker with a solid axle, YJ's, and M-Links and see what the reaction was. I built a 4-door SAS Kick a while ago and it had too long of a wheelbase for my taste so I just cut it up for parts. This 2-door may have just the right wheelbase for the wheeling I do and it's an economical lift which may be a taste of things to come for these vehicles. I have several customers that are interested in having their 2-door built similar to the one above (SAS on Toy axles with YJ leaf springs front and rear) so I figured I'd build one for "testing". I have done similar SAS swaps in the past, but none that were this simple yet versitile.....and none of them flexed this good!

As Samurai's get harder and harder to find Track/Kicks are the future. Some have already realized this.

Yes, these are stock YJ springs under the Tracker and those are 35X16 Boggers.....almost a perfecet fit. The bumper was trimmed out a little to keep the tires from rubbing when articulating while turning. I am sure there will be a bit more cutting necessary once I get to flexing her out.

Sean, what's the retail on one of those kits? I think I just bought another sidekick, and it needs to be lifted.

Cue the "more than you can afford, pal. SAS!" comment.

What kit? Did anyone say I was making a kit? I did think out loud about the question as to whether a kit would sell.......? and for that matter, how much would one realistically pay for a SAS swap "kit". I charge quite a bit in labor to install a solid axle under a Track/Kick not to mention the cost of the fabrication materials and miscelaneous parts like shocks, brake hoses, hysteer, bushings, and other necessary parts to do the swap. I will do in house solid axle swaps for those interested, but do not currently have plans to mass produce a kit.

Well, no you didn't say it.. but your middle name for that post is "would it sell" and the answer is.. "maybe, how much $$$?"

I was thinking weld up a Toy flange @ Toy axle pinions + tubing+slip yoke end from Tracker combination? in your oppinion would this work? enough travel/slip? Im thinking similar set up as 8" RRO kit with 33" Boggers, and a lot of misc. fab work ;D  Thanks Weed

Here is a Tracker called the Wildweasel which has a similar setup you are asking about (RRO type kit on coils):  http://www.cs.umass.edu/~glenn/personal.html. The setup works very well and it has a modified Toyota Double Cardian D-shaft in the rear mated to a Samurai T-case. Custom Kick/Toy shafts could be made by most any driveline shop OR if you wanted to use a Slip Yoke Eliminator (SYE) it would allow for the most travel for the d-shafts and you could use standard Toyota shafts. Search SYE on the BBS and you'll find out that a few have done this and why it may or may not be necessary for your application.
