I found a '94/'95 Sidekick with 1.6L, 16V engine, manual trans, 4 dr. with 144,000+ miles on it. It is setting on the ground with only one fair flat tire. All other tires and rims are missing.  Rear window broken,  right front fender has damage. The inside is a disaster as the weather has gotten to it. I am assuming the transfer case is good. The manual trans is good. The engine probably is in need of a rebuild. The front and rear diffs should be good. The four doors and the hood look to be good. There are lots of parts that could be salvaged. Essentailly it would be a parts car only. It would have to be put on a car trailer to move it. What would be a good offering price?

$250 max and that's at the high end.  I paid $200 plus a cheap .22 rifle for a clean one that didnt run.......

It depends on where you live.  It could go for anywhere between $100 and $1000.  With body damage and a definite blown engine I would have to x2 on the price above.  If the engine just needs a little TLC $500 max.

Yep, $200-300 max, assuming it has a title.

It really boils down to what its worth to you and what you need off it, try to get the seller to give you a price maybe he just wants to get rid of it .

Their are places in the US where you can not buy used SIdekick parts.  They just are not available.

And others where they are too rusted out to be worth using.

And others where folks give that stuff away.

X2 on asking the owner what he wants, you would be amazed at how little people will get rid of stuff for especially if they don't want it in their yard, My rule is I never price another mans stuff. I usually say something like "Are you interested in GETTING RID OF that tracker" or something like that I never ask if they want to sell it as that could cause some people to see money signs.  You would be surprised at how many vehicles I have gotten for free or next to free doing this.

I am from NW Montana just below Flathead Lake. There are very few Trackers or Sidekicks for off roading in this area. Lots of Jeeps and trucks. I have come across some Track/Kicks in Missoula and Kalispell. But most for everyday drivers. The Kick that I found is in relatively poor condition and would be $$ to put back on the road.  I will contact the owner during the week to get their response.

Ya, what he said.... [lol]

You could buy a used truck...

and then find out all it had was a bad rotor cap and plugs and resell it for $2500 and make a killing...hehe   [headbang]  (not really.... #3 has a broken skirt...)

or more realistically, you buy a truck from a really nice guy [lol] and have a really nice rebuild project or a ton of really good parts you can use or sell.

I've found that you can't get pissed at what you pay for a truck versus what they guy wanted/paid for it....  If they want X dollars for it, and you're willing to pay that amount for it....  done deal.  You paid no more than you wanted to for it, and they got what they wanted for it.  If they paid less and made cash....good for them.  If you turn a profit on later... as they say down under...good on ya.

But that being said...

TITLES = CASH

I've found several trucks that were frickin' sweet deals, but didn't have titles.....

That vehicle is instantly worth 25% of whatever they were asking.   1995, 16V, 2 door with a brand new top, and 4 new tires with 42K miles for $1000?  No title?  $250 TOPS

I've spent WAY too much time making big metallic objects into little metallic objects to dispose of them.  No title, no cash.  A 'Parts Only' truck is worth is worth nothing.

Now that being said, it works the other way too..... I'd love to get a clean title on a '95 4 door, missing almost EVERYTHING, just so I could put my parts truck back in play.  Does your find have the harness and dash?  My brother is in Great Falls, and I have family up in Trout Creek.   ;D

Hey NV!  Did you get that Tracker running???  You obviously at least got the engine apart.  I would have messed with it if it didnt have wiring issues and some missing parts.   I didnt have any parts vehicles and Carson City/Reno are too far to keep checking picknpulls.   Like I said when I sold it to you, the girl that owned it said "it just blew up".  I was hoping it was a timing belt.

Hey Don,
Ya, enough wiring to crank it, and I didn't tear it apart, but had enough to piece it back together.....

Ya, I got it to 'run'  of course by  "run"  I mean:
thump....thump......thump....thump....clang......clang......clang.....clang......clang......clang.....clang......clang......clang.....clang......clang......clang.....
I believe #3 has a broken skirt, #3 is had 50 pounds of compression.  1,2, and 4 are about 170.

I started ordering parts for a rebuild  last week.......    ;D

I contacted the owner of the '94 Sidekick once again. She wants $400 cash in her hand and there is no key or title. Told her no thank you! Will keep looking for another locally.
