Here is a simple disk brake solution. So far I've read about using a Mazda 929 Master Cylinder but the year I needed was bury. Also read an awesome post about using a Subaru Master Cylinder with some minor modifications, problem is out here there's not to many Subaru's. I herd about using an Isuzu Master Cylinder but haven't seen a write up about it so here it is.
I used a Isuzu Trooper 1994 I believe, you will know you have the right one because the later models only have 2 brake lines running out of the Master Cylinder into a proportioning block. The newer Models have three lines.
- Disconnect the brake lines from the MC (Master Cylinder) and the vacuum line from the hard line behind the engine. This you can re use on your Sammy.
- Unbolt the booster from inside the cab and disconnected the linkage the same way you do on a stock Sammy. Pull the Booster with the MC still attached, keep the vacuum line and the spacer between the booster and the firewall. Done
- Unscrew the linkage and cut about 1/4 of an inch off the threads. Leave enough for the jam nut. (Picture 2)
- Screw the linkage back on. Slide the spacer on and bolt the booster w/MC on to the Sammy. The bolts line up perfectly but leave the bottom 2 loose. The bolts are a little long, you can cut them back or use a deep well socket on a swivel.
- With the 2 lower bolts loose line up and adjust the bracket. Then tighten the lower 2 bolts on the booster.
- Bend and bolt up your brake lines. I put my brake lines back on in there original position and have had Zero Problems..
I takes more time to bleed the brakes than it does installing the new MC/Booster!
