It's the internet, get over it.

I recently aquired a 49cc pocket bike from a friend. When he got it something broke on the exhaust, so they sent him a free replacement of the upgrade exhuast which consisted of a 1 piece manifold, expansion pipe, and muffler.

The muffler was a straight through design, with holes drilled through the center pipe. Where the first ring of holes was the muffler eventually broke right off (as if the holes were a perforation). So I helped him make a new muffler, another straight through, made of aluminum and able to be "clamped on" (pre-welder). It fell off and was lost.

Now I am about to set off to make another muffler for it, I know it doesn't need it, but to quiet it some would be nice, but I don't want to bottle it up, the motor needs all the help it can get with me on it.

I've heard that straight through style mufflers actually don't flow as well as chambered mufflers, I can't fab something amazing, so I'm going for a middle ground, with the design shown in the picture.

Will it work? Will it muffle? Will it choke it? Etc...

TIA.

I'll have to get video once it's running right again. Years ago my friend brought it to my house and we were riding down the road at dangerous speeds, it's a scary little toy. This one in particular sent his ex-wife's father to the ER for stitches.

Think you could just find another used muffler for it? Those little engines do need the back pressure. I've tried running them without a muffler and it was night and day difference in power. Without a muff on there, it simply didn't run for crap. :-\\

The mufflers are built onto the exhuast, I can't afford a whole new exhaust, but I can weld/build a new one to add onto the rest of the exhaust which is in perfect condition.

I understand how the exhaust is on those, what I mean is, could you find a used setup for it?  I have a good friend that works on bikes and has been doing a lot of scooter work here lately for some reason, but he says that parts for these things are dirt cheap and he likes working on them becuase of that. I can try to find you something around here if that would help. Can you snap a shot of the bike for me?

Here are some photos, but when it comes to new or used parts, I'm a lame duck right now unless I can buy them with food stamps (and food stamps don't pay for tobacco or alcohol).

I understand bud. ;)  Say, is that thing a 2 stroke? Looks to be with the expansion pipe, but I may be wrong. If so.........then it may not need too much backpressure.
