Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot or just a stupid question but this is new to me.....

My tintop came with a spoa kit on it that has the front shock mounts welded to the bottom rear of the axle tubes. I am wanting to to install a set of YJ springs. I have been told that I will need to cut the shock mounts off the bottom of the axle and weld them to the top.
I have never welded or messed with the axle tubes before.
Anything I need to watch for when cutting the shock mounts off or welding new ones on ??
Do I need to do it a little bit at a time to avoid heat build up, pull axles, ect... ??

Just don't want to jack something up and figure better to ask first even if I do catch some crap about this type of question.......................

Thanks !

The tubes are very thin and easy to burn through when welding!! Go slow and avoid a lot of heat.

x2  Switching from side to side made me have the patience to let the tubes cool.
