I have searched first just so you all know, I have not got a clear answer to what I am looking for. I have found a 94 kick with a 1.6 16v in it for a donor veh. The guy is selling all the stuff besides from the trans back since they are going to do a EV conv on it. So long story short going to go with the Trail Tough 1.6 conv kit and it says need under dash wire harness. So basically I need the gauges, ignition, 100% complete wire harness, ecu, and complete engine with pullies and all hoses right? I have to drive to get this stuff and pull it so just want to make sure I am not forgetting anything. I have searched but nothing is specific to what all. So any help will be greatly appreciated. O and this is going in a 88.5 tin top with 6" SPOA on stock rims not geared.

You need the engine and everything attached to it, for the most part.  You'll need the entire wiring harness from the ECM to the engine...I believe this includes both inside the engine compartment and in the cab. I wasn't too sure what I needed so I took all the wires that weren't going to the rear of the vehicle. I'm sure someone else here can be more specific.

You need the gauge panel only for the VSS sensor. I believe, if you can source this reed switch, it's very inexpensive to buy. Not sure if the guy you're buying from would still need the gauges...I would think so?

There are 3, 16v vehicles at my local junk yard. If they need to keep the gauge panel or something else I can get you one... I'm so tempted to the pull the motor from the 4dr Sidekick there, but I know this place is cheap and I feel they will be charging me for every little item on it.. instead of just a motor, it'll be a motor, power steering pump, exhaust mani, ect, ect

From www.kick-fix.com...

General relationships of bodies and motors, etc.

GEO, Trackers.  (they get it right on TFI/MFI)  No 1.8L Trackers.
8th Digit:
6 - 1.6l (1590cc) MFI  16v
U - 1.6l (1590cc) TFI   8v

The Carbs & TFI's (Throttle-body Fuel Injection) have 8 valves and the MFI (Multi-port Fuel Injection) is a 16 valve.
Some call TFI , TBI
Some call MFI, MPI.

In addition :
ALL Samurai's came with a 1.3l
   1986 - 1989 are 8v-SOHC & have 2-BBL carbs
   1990 - 1995 are 8v-SOHC & have TBI

ALL Tracker/Kicks (except Sport) came with a fuel injected 1.6l
   1989 - 1991 are all 8v-SOHC & TBI
   1992 - 1995 base is 8v-SOHC & TBI; also available with 16v-SOHC MFI
   1996 - 1998 are all 16v-SOHC with MFI  + sequential injection.
   1996 - 1998 "Sport" model came with 1.8l 16v-DOHC MFI

The mostly true list :  Sidekick /Trackers.
Any 92-98 4 door will have the 1.6 16V, except the 96-98 Sport models which will have the 1.8l DOHC.
All sports are 4doors
The 91 4 doors will have a 1.6 8V.
The 89-93 2 doors will have an 8V.
The 94 2 doors will have the 16V, if they were Cali or NY models (probably gonna be rare to run across one).
The 95 2 doors that are 4wd will have the 16V.
The 95 2 doors that are 2wd will have the 8V.
The 96-98 2 doors will have the 16V.
The 96-98 X90s will have the 1.6 16V engine.  same with all 96-98s really.
There are no 8v motors after 1995.
There are no 1.8L Trackers.
All JLX bodies, are 4 door.
So, if you know the year, model (sport or regular trackick/x90), 2 or 4 door, and 2wd/4wd......which should all be in even a "basic" listing of a vehicle, then you should be able to determine what engine it will have.
The only thing that will be questionable is a 94 2 door trackick...
Cal /NY models all , after 93 have a EGR thermoprob (2 wire conn).  not hard to see at all.

In Canada they even have 2door hard tops.

So I have beem doing a lot of research now about the 1.6 swap. I have found a 98 tracker that was recently in an accident to the front. He wants 1000 for it. Not a bad deal I guess as I am just going to strip it and take what I need, I am spliting it with someone who is doing an elec conv on a kick. I am going to take all of the engine stuff and wiring harness. I know I need the 2nd o2 sensor from it since it is obd2. What else do I need from there? Anything else you all would take from it? The guy I am splitting it with said he needs misc body parts and what not, figured that I would take the seats if they are good. This is going in to a 88.5 TT so Dont need the soft top and it has stock tires so dont need them. Any info would be great and ideas of what to take. Also if any of you need parts from it let me know and we can talk prices.. Thanks!

When you remove the harness take your time .Many guys think its ok to cut this or that in haste and end up not getting everything they need .I would reccomend using the rear o2  section that way if you go to retrieve codes you dont keep getting the rear 02 codes .Sometimes the ecm wont recognize other troble codes til the codes are cleared that are stored .
