ok heres what i got. i have a 1985 toyota 4x4 that id love to rebuild but the frame remains an issue. i just aquired a 1982 tack in great condition but needs some tlc in the engine and interior area. i also have a 1994 tracker that will eventually be the donor for the engine and trans and wiring harness.so the ultimate finish will hopefully be a road and trail/mudworthy rig with the toy front and rear axles and the 92 body with a 2" lift for better access to important pieces and hopefully the stock suspension from the toyota?  these are my questions about the build .. can i use the stock toy springs? are they not worthy? i can shackle them up and gain whatever for clearance. i have the facilities to do welding and fabing. i just want to have a plan of attack. im pretty sure the 1.6 16v will have the power i need.. tire size would max at maybe 32" i want it to be usable for winter with the skinnies to.. overly tall and skinny tires is a scarey ride. and ofcourse the budget is limited.. currently im in the collect info mode and although there are tons of threads here no one has reallly done the factory toyota thing.. any help would be great.. ill get pic's of all the rides soon.. ;D

I used factory toyota leafs for my sas. I used rear springs from an ifs truck front and rear. They work really well. Your front springs may not work as well because I believe the center pins are in the middle of the leaf. The rear leaf has off set center pins so it is easier to get the front axle moved forward where you want it with out building crazy mounts way out the front. Beware though how much lift you can end up with doing this swap, mine ended up towering over 36" tires without a body lift. If you want to do this conversion and only run 32" tires I would recommend doing a spring under conversion on your axles.

do you have any links to your build or any photos.. im sure i can come up with 4 sets of rears.. ive been seeing alot of builds and most use a coil rear.. im not great with the 4 or 3 link thing and thats an extra cost at this point but if that seems to be a better way to go...  i dont want this thing to look to freaky with being way up so i guess itll take time to figure out this setup.  thanks for the input so far everyone

The first couple pics are before I took the body lift off. Like I said though, if you just swap your perches to the underside of your axles and flip the center pins of your leafs around for a spring under axle set up you could easily stay at a comfortable height. I mostly run in deep snow so being tall and tippy isn't as big of a deal as it would be on trails or rocks.

wow this is all i had hoped for..  no is there anything you would have done diffrent..  im thinking a toy independent steering box if i can fit it with the zuk steering (if it turns out easy ill ship you one ) but this is basicly the same monster we built out of a chevy 3/4 ton  added 18" of lift and 1 ton axles...  weld paste and fabricate...  hopefully if all goes well in the late winter early spring my project will start..  im wondering about dual tcases too.. i have 2 but the one is a 1.6 8 valve trans transfercase (wich i think im going to use because of the whine out of my current one.. but none of those parts are set in stone yet...  research and more research.. but you have been a great help and your ride roxs..  im hopeing for a 38" when im done but that all is still a work in progress too..  but a 2 door with 38's will be crazy.. i also need to find a turnout for the exauhst to make it breath a touch better in the mud..  anyways thank you so much for all your help

No problem, happy to help. I definitely would have done my steering different, other than that I'm happy with my budget build. Looking forward to pics of yours  :)
