Thanks fellas!

Good question Workamper,

I started by bead blasting the panel in my sandblasting cabinet, to remove all traces of rust. Followed by MANY coats of high build primer with wet sanding in between. Once it was 99% smooth, I painted it silver... wet sanded again and applied the new decal.

As a former Lawn Care Service owner, I have quite an interest in Tractors, and admire the guys who can make the old classics look new & shiny again..... I just want you to restore my antique Simplicity, but I suppose you'd be pretty tempted to paint it Red & Black or something.... ;)

Do you have mower decks on any/many of your toys, or are all the decks rusted away by now ?   I used to take every new tractor (before I used it) to a guy who sprayed the whole underside of the deck with a rubbery urethane coating that he did manure spreaders with. It cost me about $250 per tractor, but saved my investment, and they were then self cleaning too !!     [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

I have a STACK of decks out in the shed. I pick one of tractor to mow with when the grass starts growing and put a deck on it. (I have 18 of them to choose from now... lol)

On a Wheel Horse, it takes about 5 minutes to put on/ take off the deck.  8)

Can I come help you ?? ?? The place I am now won't let me help mow the lawn, and I'm going through Grass Withdrawal......

I LOVE mowing grass !!!!!!! I used to like the baseball fields we were contracted to mow, because 2 days a week, I sent my 5 man crew out on other jobs, and I spent about 14-15 hrs mowing 15 acres of ball fields. It was nice & peaceful, and I think my employees liked it too, not having THE BOSS around to keep them from having those 2 hr, 45 minute coffee breaks....

Buy more land................   Just start dumping chemicals in your neighbors well, and eventually you can buy their place from the descendants, so there will be enough grass for both of us to mow....   [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

Mmmmmkay... lol

Here's a little side project I picked up last night...

It's a 1964 and is still wearing the original paint. It is a model 654, which had a 6hp Tecumseh. The engine was junk, so I replaced it with a Kohler 8hp.

After lots of cleaning and some spare parts from the shed, it's now a complete and running tractor...
