We have a contract on our house and its time to start planning a trip . This is the thread where we will figure out accomodations , dates , trails and whos going to try and make it . Its a year away , but it will be here before we know it .

I was thinking of renting a condo , as I was there this summer for almost two months I made some connections where I think we could get condos for a reasonable amount . I can check into this or we could always go the campground/cabin route .

Dates ... I like late May early June , but with Hannah in school I am not sure yet what we will be able to do. What do yall think ? We did the last trip in June and it was getting pretty warm towards the end of it.

Trails ... We tried to plan out days and routes for the last trip and it worked ok . Do we want to run a full event with a dinner and trail plans or just wing it ?

Everything else... What do yall think ?

It's a little too early to tell if I'll be able to go or not, but I'll be following this thread....... and watching the wallet ;) I've always wanted to go, and after seeing all the pics posted not too long ago...... it's just a matter of "when" and not "if" now.

I'm In!!!

Maybe plan on May/June again. I liked the first one. Great Trip, Great Trails, Great Friends!

You might consider around Memorial day. Maybe some of the people driving a greater distance will benefit from an extra day off?

I'm Going to be there whether you want me or not!  ;D

ok Here's the questions.   How long of a trip are we talking here?  About how many days drive time?   Is there anyway to maybe get multi zuks shipped out there for cheap?

I'm in!! It'll be cook to meet some of you east coast guys, since I won't be making it to events out that way anytime soon. It seems that June may be a little on the warm side. It would need to be early June in my opinion.

I'll need to sell a kidney to make it but it is next to the top of my things to do list.

What kind of time frame ???  3 days out 3 days back and 5 in the middle?

But like others I have no ideia how to get my junk out their...  (Buy New 37" MTR's and just drive the buggy)

Lets nail down a date before 2010 vacation selection in late November.

On average what kind of funding should I be looking to set aside for fuel and lodging.

I know Zukimelt I sold a jet ski to fund the trip....

What does it look like for Fab shops and parts if I break?

I know MOAB is the Mecca but what if I need a new axle housing, new links, or suffer roll damage.

Obviously an alternate plan If you drive your trail rig must be made....

Worst case senario ~ Get a rental to the airport and send the rig home thru a transort company.

If I get serous I'll register and DD the buggy a few months in advance...

But It is light enough and darned good on gas, is geared 4.11 so 75mph hwy is attainable.

it's about 30-33 hrs straight there from Atlanta. I will try but I'm not 100% sure I can go.

Driving your rig out seems like a bad idea. Best thing to do is get with someone and trailer 2 of them together.

GOT my buggy up and running today...  ALL this talk gave me the itch!   Thanks guys  ;)

I think my 1998 2-dr Kick would be a comfy ride out and back.  It is a rock solid 1998 and under 100K miles..

Especially with Brents new gear reduction set.

Fix the front end load up some spare parts bolt on my 35" MTR's and go.

I think I would want to flat tow or trailer my ride out there. It would be all kind of trouble to get that thing back home if some sort of failure occurred, unless you set aside emergency funding for return transport or truck & trailer rental.

Eleven days...man, that's an awful long time to take off from work. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime trip...but I'm having a hard time trying to make time for a full day or two days of wheeling now.

Just thinking out loud...

~ I'm just thinking out loud too ~  [jump]

When you figure this into the cost and expense of maintaining and insuring a diesel tow rig...

Dodge VP 44 high psi pump = $1,000 - $1800 + install
Dodge NV 4500 = $1500 - 2,000 + install
Dodge Diesel Turbocharger = $1500 + install

Driving a Sidekick out I can cut fuel in 1/2 and and make arrangements for truck transport as an alternate.

11 days ~ For 6 days drive time I'd like to get in a good trip of experiencing the flavors of Moab.

Of course I'd absolutely LOVE to get on board with a group and double up or triple up on a trailer.

BUT I am gun shy as
My 2006 Tellico trip I got a call 3 days before leave date and was told the trailer fell thru,
my new to me 94 F-150 was not even on the road yet.
