Thank you R/T.  We want you to know all the planning and work that is put into the Zu is greatly appreciated.

Jeff, it's only a week later than last year's fall event.  But yeah, it was a little chilly... I will just fill the Suburban up with blankets again, lol.  I can handle the cold, I don't particularly care for the cold and rain at the same time.  ::)

No, some people want to stay where there's electricity, showers, toilets, etc.  It also helps ensure your own space.  ;)

I've never been to the Zu.  As a matter of fact it's been years since I've been out with anyone from this board.  I think I need to get out to this thing.  Can someone answer a few questions for me?  How does the camping work?  I'd like to drive the motorhome, but my buggy is not street legal.  Is the camping near the trailhead, or should I just tent it and drive my truck so i can tow it to the trailhead?  Do I need to pre-register and pay, or do it there?  Where exactly is this place?  I'd be coming from Pittsburgh, PA.  What are the trails like?  Should I bring a ton of spare parts, or is it pretty tame?

um you need to bring your truck and trailer, you can preregister but you don't have to, it is in troy north carolina, the trails are anywhere from easy to moderate i wouldn't call them extreme by no means but they are fun

Pretty much what Tim said.  The group camp is several miles from the trails and the Rangers WILL give you a ticket if you arnt tagged.  Most of the trails can be done in 2wd on a dry day.  You can pay for the Zu stuff when the registration dates come up, usually about a month before the event.  You will also need a trail pass which is only like $5 a day to ride on the trails.

I don't think anyone on here can stress enough.........the importance of "trailering" your non-licensed rig to the trail.

They are cracking down on that big time now.

Tent camping is great at group camp (no electric) but has water and heated showers and out houses on steroids  ;D

BTW the Park Ranger that gave us all the fun is still there. Saw him yesterday when we were there.
I would definitely not try to get to the trail without tag and insurance.

Moderate is a relative term. How your rig is built makes a big difference. If you drive a buggy you'll probably be bored stiff. But... if you are like me and drive a daily driver with lockers, 2"-3" of lift, and 235/75-15 A/Ts then it can be a lot of fun. Besides, it's the people that make the Zu, not the place to wheel. I could have fun spinning donuts in R/T's front yard if it was with a group from the Zu! ;D
PS - on the people statement, at the Spring Zu, I noticed the language with some of the groups was getting a little course. I bring my kids and appreciate the fact that the Zu staff tries (and does a great job) keeping this event very family friendly. Thnka staff!

If I can figure out how to get both rigs out there, I'll you drive one if you make it Jeff, but not so much Dylan  ;)

It really is just going to boil down to how much work I get done today, and if the trailer brakes are working on my gooseneck.
